Smartsign consolidates its position as one of the leading software in the digital signage field. An open platform based on open contracts and support the open standard SMIL.

Version 7.1 is the next step where we expand the functions further. The new version includes, for example

- Media Library to manage media files, web links and RSS feeds
- Separate sites within the same installation
- Remote upgrade that is controlled from inside the Smartsign Admin
- Enhanced security settings at the group level
- Self-service for setting up screens by using the codes
- Parameters of the screen / player can be used in playlists
- Support for video streams such as H264 and AAC (audio)

The Media Library will allow users to share media between them
- Possible to restrict users to only book media from the Media Library
- Save bandwidth by only uploading files once
- Divide responsibility, creating media and publishing media
 

Sites
- One installation of Smartsign can be divided in multiple sites. For example one site for each department.
- Site administrators have full control over the sites. A super admin can manipulate all sites.
- Sites can share everything, including layers, bookings and screens.
- Easy to setup and use

Detailed permissions on groups
- Can restrict access to parts of Publisher Web
- For example: A user can be forbidden to upload files or create bookings with high priority.

 Registration codes
- When a new Smartsign Player connects to the server it will be put in the ”Free Players” group
- The Player will wait for a site admin to register it.
- When waiting it will show a registration code on the screen
- As soon as it is registered by a site admin. It will be ready to display media.
 

The platform consists of
- Smartsign Publisher to schedule content
- Smartsign Server using WCF-based service structure
- Smartsign Media Server for load balancing
- Smartsign Player to control a PC-based display
- SMIL-compliant hardware players such as IAdea XMP 330, XMP-120, XDS 104, etc.
